Ghafar Tajmohammad
Ghafar Tajmohammad is a British Afghan artist based in London, working across painting and rug making. His practice explores themes of home, belonging, and migration within the Afghan diaspora. Through painting and textiles, he incorporates culturally resonant patterns that are visually identifiable to specific communities. His abstract compositions are suggestive and narrative-driven, often inspired by personal reflections on heritage.
He holds a BA in Painting from Camberwell College of Arts and has received public grants from Arts Council England, A-n Bursaries, and the Meads Fellowship. His work has been exhibited at the Royal Over-Seas League, New Art Exchange, and Yorkton Workshop, and he has collaborated with institutions including Counterpoints Arts, the British Museum, and the British Library.
