Suriçi Series, 2014-2023
This series of works emerge from memories tied to the place where my life unfolded within Suriçi, Diyarbakır. They carry traces of the city I lived in, its spaces, and the cultural and personal issues that have shaped my experience. Each piece holds a layered structure, composed of lived realities, reflections on womanhood, and fragmented narratives of resistance.
Set against a political atmosphere laden with elements of traditional and feudal structures, these works speak to the complex relationships between bodies, spaces, and the systems they inhabit. They are stories of bodies navigating these environments, bodies that are often confined by space, reduced by external narratives, or pushed to the margins. I aim to explore the tension embedded in the relationship between these bodies and their surroundings, as well as the possibilities they attempt to generate within and despite these constraints.
